"I believe this is true and think it would be a huge leap forward, but I see one roadblock to it happening quickly.*
The problem is that institutionalized schooling for kids in 2019 is mainly just a daycare. Until we can resolve the need for parents to have others watch their kids all day, growth in unschooling/self-directed education could be slower than it would otherwise be.*
